Title: need some help with a pattern
Post by: cdrover(Clyde) on September 15, 2013, 08:29:08 pm
Hi guys/gals. My nephew is  a RCMP constable and has asked me to do the RCMP insignia for him.  I have attempted but I see so many layers, Would one of you great pattern makers be so kind as to give it a go? Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Clyde - I'm on a business trip and can't quite complete this, but here's a start that you can edit in GIMP. I started by using Color/Threshold, then Color/Invert. You need to clean up the leaves (I started that in the lower right corner) and thicken some lines (I thickened around the crown and the bottom scroll). Then eliminate floaters. You would cut out the black sections leaving the white as a medallion to be glued to a backer board.

I hope this helps.

Thanks Ray, I have uploaded the pattern and will begin to clean it up this weekend. Work is getting in the way of my hobby. It is much better than what I came up with. Will post for your comments in a day or two. Thanks again.

Thanks with the help on the RCMP insignia. That was a difficult pattern to reproduce. As back up I am wondering if someone could take a crack at this picture for me. It is my nephew sitting in his cruiser. This may be easier to work with. Again thanks for your efforts on the first request. Ray, I did try to work with what you posted but I am challenged when it comes to making patterns. Thanks anyhow.
