Title: Team Calf Ropers
Post by: Linda in Phoenix on September 15, 2013, 02:01:42 am
This is my own design I just finished in late August.  It's the biggest piece I have ever done at 36" wide and about 18" tall.  22 different kinds of wood including the awesome piece of maple I found for the back piece.  Over 300 pieces went into this. I keep reaching for challenges, and this was definitely a stretch!  Thank you for letting me share.

For final sanding I mostly used an abrasive wheel (it has 180 grit sand paper interleaved with scotchbrite).  Alot of the pieces were just too small for me to hang to using a mop sander.   And to all of you---yes, working with a finished dimension of 36" is quite a stretch!  Thank you all for thoughts.

You should enter this in the fair...too late for this year, but next year you would win for sure.

Great work, Linda,
Have you submitted that pattern to any scroller's magazines for publications or do you have any
plans to sell or share the pattern?
Awesome work!
God Bless! Spirithorse

I have not submitted this piece to either of the major scrolling magazines.  The piece is much larger than something they would put into their publications.  I am considering submitting it for consideration in one of the pubs that are there just for selling the patterns.  Thank you for the suggestion, and the compliment it implies!  Linda

Thanks for the reply, Linda,
Please keep me advised if you publish this piece.
Not really a lot of people into Calf Roping in this neck of the woods but,
I really like the pattern.
Perhaps one of the publications would consider a scaled down version with the
Calf, Horses, and Riders with-out the large back-ground. You could still show your completed version for the full effect.
God Bless! Spirithorse
