Title: Help Please
Post by: tdub4ever on July 20, 2013, 01:53:54 pm
I'd like to ask for help turning this pic into a pattern, if possible. These are my daughters cousins (on her moms side) and they were murdered back in April. Bodies were found in May. My daughters grandma has asked me to make a memorial of them for her and this is the only pic she had. I know it's poor quality so if it's not possible I understand, I will figure something else out. Thanks so much for your time!

I've been at a family wedding all day and just saw your post. I'll give this a try tomorrow. Sorry to hear about your loss.

Couldn't sleep on this one. Please see if this will work. If you find a better picture, we can try again.

If you need a color change to make it easier to cut, just say so.

Thank you all very much for your time in making these great patterns! I know the pic was not very good quality. Here are 2 I googled, I hope they are better to work with. If you are willing to try, I'm not expecting anymore of your time, you've all been gracious enough. Thanks so much!

I never knew Kaylie or Lana and my daughter only meet them 2 or 3 times as my ex left when our daughter was 2 yo. The whole crime is so gruesome, but the worst part of the whole ordeal was they said they found baby Lana in a ditch on the side of the road face down still straped in her car seat. Like they just threw her from the car. They do have someone in custody, but there hasn't been any info on the news in awhile.

I want to thank each and every one of you for your time spent on making these great patterns. I also want to thank each of you for touching my daughters heart, when she seen the patterns made by you she teared up and said they are some nice people to do that for us.  I'm going to use the pattern made by Nick (Nick@tinkers-cove)for the grandma and the pattern made by EIEIO for my daughter. I will be making 2 of these patterns (by Sue Mey) in the next few days and then will do the potraits. I will post them when they are finished. Again, thank you all so much.

The start of the first memorial. The great pattern was designed by EIEIO (thanks so much). Cutting it on .080 Acrylic with maybe a felt backer. Thanks for looking.

That looks nice and Ray did a good job on the pattern.

tdub - I had not thought of using acrylic. I bet it will look great. I like the black felt from Hobby Lobby. It gives a deep black and supposedly doesn't fade with time. I'll be watching for the finished project.

Well, the cutting is done now have to figure out how to display it. I used my sander and frosted the acrylic before I started cutting. It kinda looks good in a shadow box like frame. Thanks again Ray!

Very nice. The shadow box looks good. Did you make that?

Yes I did Ray. It's made from oak. I'm thinking about making another one and setting the acrylic deeper in the center and maybe adding a colored piece of acrylic and adding a small led light to it. Maybe paint the back of the portrait black. IDK. To many ideas!

I'd think, for a memorial, simpler might be better.

Almost done. I made another frame and painted it black. I painted the back of the acrylic pink and added a purple backer. I agree with you Ray, simpler is better!

Looks swell. Thanks for the picture.

How do you like that frame clamp/strap? Does it work pretty well to hold everything square while the glue sets?

I love it! I had one of those one piece things that you have to get it in just right, which I never did, so I bought the strap and have had perfect frames since!
