Post by: Danny on July 15, 2013, 05:15:13 pm
There is a lot of companies putting there commercials on our T.V. and RADIO.
HOME PROTECTION.... We do not have this at present.  I just wonder how many
of you have this set up in and around your home.  I am considering.  For those
that do could you post the PROS and CONS of having this service in place.  Danny  :+}

Home security here is pretty simple.  My doors are locked for YOUR protection, not mine.  We live in a Redneck community  You will probably see American Flags, Men opening doors for ladies, people drinking beer and folks carrying guns!  Nuff Said!

I remember an organization years ago that did a survey  and found that homes with a sign or decal that said This home protected by  some security company   were less likely to be broken in to. It didn't matter if you actually had an alarm or not. I have no problem shooting an intruder. I just make sure my friends and loved ones know to knock.

I have only one problem about shooting an intruder - they won't let us have guns over here

Danny--there are a lot of security company's out there--I have 2--Smith & Wesson  1911 45 cal & Mossberg 12 gauge with a 18 in barrel -if they are stupid enough not to hear  the double  OO shell being chambered in the shotgun, then they deserve the 45 .I have the cutting of "never mind the dog, beware of owner" sign up both front and back--Both my wife and I go shooting at least once a month. I'm a fairly good shooter, she a lot better-- This is just my preference --Richard

Good response I say.  Well honestly I am not a Gun toting person (at present) Thumbs.:+}
It amazes me to read and hear (I know advertising is meant to be convincing) how having
a system installed can .... Help Prevent....  invaders or possibly (murders) in our homes.
  Need more input.... Have to go................Danny  :+}

Chicago has the toughest gun laws in the country  AND  the highest murder by gun in the country.   There were 72 shootings in Chicago over the July 4th weekend,  but we won't see that in  the liberal media.

Danny, our house was broken into a couple years ago, during the day while we were at work. They used my tools to break open the safe in the bedroom. Anyway after that I did some research on security systems and monitering services etc..... What I found was our local Police dept claims to have a 7-10 minute responce time, from when they are called. Most services will first try to conact you when there is an alarm, before notifying local police, which can take 3-4 minutes. So in the end, if a burgler comes in and hears the alarm, he knows he has 10 minutes to get out of there. And that's all he needs. So I will save the $300-400 in monthly charges annually. Also, if they see from outside that you may have an alarm, all they have to do is snip the phone line.

I never wanted one, seems more trouble than they are worth, plus the false alarms here in my town you have to register it with the police so if you false alarm you can tell them if not they fine you for it. Plus I live in a good state and our town/city is pretty safe, most of my house doesn't lock down old wood windows can't lock, never had a break in, even left my garage door open all night one time didn't have anything walk off. But we also have a open carry with a conceal carry, so doubt anybody wants to mess with others stuff, though it still happens, but in the bad parts.

There is no sure defense system that can protect your personal property. You can put up cameras, alarm systems and even armed guards. If someone wants something bad enough they will find a way around it.

My personal feeling is that I am such a peaceable man that I am willing to kill to keep it.

The only thing one can do is try and slow them down.

9 times out of 10 if your home is broken into it is by someone you has been in your home before or you personally know them and the family.

Nothing is foolproof, but our two 125lb dogs are a pretty convincing security system for anyone attempting to enter.

Danny,
I made a sign that hangs out front that says We Don't Dial 911...under that is a plaque with a revolver. We have never had a problem.

My home security is a 70 pound black lab who has an attitude.  She keep the *honest* people honest and my 22 semi automatic takes care of those who aren't so honest!!!

Being retired military, if they are in my house uninvited they are liable to what ever I can get my hands on to protect mysef and my family, ie gun, knife, baseball bat, golf club, or anything else.
