Title: Arranging letters to form words....
Post by: Danny on June 22, 2010, 10:19:38 am
I wished I had the bucks to buy the software to design projects....BUT....
Can anyone tell me how to format a word where it can be cut out on the scrollsaw?  I have serveral requests for using Steve's Nascar design but they all want the drivers name instead of the car.  Any help I wud LOVE.  Thanks

Inkscape, An Open Source vector graphics editor, with capabilities similar to Illustrator, CorelDraw, or Xara X, using the W3C standard Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file format.

It is free and I use it to design my patterns. It will do what you want and much more.  8)  8)  8)

Here is the link:

Also Travis over at Scroll Saw Village has a tutorial on how to use Inkscape.

You could also do a internet search for "free fonts".  There are many sites where you can download a font that would work to cut out.  Then just open a word document, type what you want in the size you need and add it to a blank pattern.

Check that out...
