Being on the backburner for about a year ( no joke) I finally found the motivation to cut this ole Indian. The border is what makes this project so darn difficult to sit there for EVER! Well thanks for looking.

Very nice Dustin, You have a whole lot more patience than I do. I made a fret pattern of one of the boat Intarsias I made and then about half way thru cutting it I gave up and tossed it. I'll stick to Intarsia, too many holes and too many times threading the blade. LOL

Thanks, like I said, it was sitting around for a year haha. The border alone took me about 3 hours total to cut it. Then the Indian itself was pretty quick.

Great job Dustin. I too have several items that have been very slowly coming along. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Nice work Justin. I like the border. Did you use a flat or a spiral blade?

Thanks, and I used a UR #1

So which did you do first I border or the Indian? Because if you had done the Indian first you may have found that you didn't need to do the border. LOL Either way great effort and patience.

I did the border first thinking that getting all that done then doing the indian would make it easier. Also at the time I made the size of wood for this, I didn't plan for a frame. Luckily I just had to trim off a little bit to fit it in a 8x10.

I'm with everyone else, great job.

Dustin how thick of plywood did you use? I tried to cut and mount a picture and it would not fit in the frame. I ended up using glazing points to hold it in, it worked, but it bowed the back somel. I was using 1/4 in. BB.

I use 1/4" BB for the portrait that is cut out then just some black cardstock behind it for the shadow. It fits in these little 3 dollar frames, but it is a tight fit. Thanks by the way.

I did that guy a couple years ago and opted to not do the border so I took the pattern and placed it so it was on a diamond shape piece of wood...1/4" oak and just put some felt on the back & used saw tooth hanger....

Well done , kind-a makes me want to get back out in the shop .. Well it'll have to wait till cooler weather anyway ......MB

Looks great, Dustin!
I find after these first years of trying about everything that I am gravitating to fretwork. It looks awesome but it definitely takes the right frame of mind. When I remind myself that I could always just clean the house instead, my patience for the fretwork magically returns. :)

That is a whole lot of cuttin there Dustin. It turned out beautifully.

Nicely done. Thanks for letting us take a look.

Amazing job. I too have a indian project sitting on a shelve for the same exact reason as you had....a border with ALOT of cutting. I should do it one of these days. I'd be happy if it came out half as good as yours.

nice job. and funny story.
didn't know you had a max limit on the HPP (holes per project.) LOL :D ;D :D
