Gray,  the image is way to small to get any pattern , I tired on both the pictures.
I am sure if you had the actual picture you would have posted it :)

My condolences to your friend. 

The resolution of the posted image is very low. This pattern might work for a small image, but if you can get a better photo, I'd be happy to take another try at it and to add the test around it.

The photo is better but still looked a little grainy and distorted (shortened) to me so I stretched the height a little. Please see how this pattern looks for your needs, and please make sure to pass my condolences to the family and thanks for Daniel's service to his country. The loss of one of our fine young servicemen diminishes every one of us.

If the family has a better picture, maybe Daniel's uniform photo or some other, I'd be honored to make another pattern if you're willing to cut it. We could get better definition with a clearer photo.
