Here is my attempt . In the oval shape please ignore the line which are bit out, still learning ;)

Do you have a photo of the child? It would be pretty special to make a plate with his/her image cut on it.

A simple 1-level scroll cut bowl from 1/4" lumber would make a nice plate-looking piece. Or 1/8" BB Ply with the image, with a contrasting rim to frame it.

Please ignore the top two as  a) the Januari (miss-spelled)  ,b) some of the fonts are not scrolling fonts. Here is the corrected pattern :)
