I've used Loctite Ultra Gel Control superglue
http://www.loctiteproducts.com/p/sg_ug_cntrl/overview/Loctite-Super-Glue-ULTRA-Gel-Control.htm (http://www.loctiteproducts.com/p/sg_ug_cntrl/overview/Loctite-Super-Glue-ULTRA-Gel-Control.htm). It is slower than the thin superglue - sets up in about 15 seconds. And it's thick so it will fill a void rather than run out. Sells for about $5 for a small bottle. Steve has a good video on fixing a broken scroll job using CA glue (superglue) that might be a help.

I use Gorilla Wood Glue for stronger joints. It sets enough in about 30 minutes to remove clamps and do some sanding.

I've recently tried the gorilla glue brand super glue & it works great on wood.  I have also used a new glue called fusion it dries pretty fast and absolutely clear.

Rhino glue is expensive but has a great reputation. I use it to glue ceramic birds on an 1/8" dowel perch. Works better than anything else I have tried.
