Title: HAIR, Oh My!

This Hairy bloke is Jack White.     I don't know his work, but he's a singer and musician of some sort.
This guy has some pretty Wild head of hair on him.   I think he came out alright.

man, that's what I call a haircut. Nicely done.

What is that you used as a backer?

Actually, that is just a tablecloth I set it down on.   I ended up backing it with black paperboard.   But it actually looked pretty cool with the tablecloth behind it.  I may have to check the scrapbook stores and see about trying some colored and patterned paper.   

Yes the project was pretty much all about the hair.   If you see an actual picture of the guy, it's pretty wild looking hair indeed...   But I guess that's the norm for a rock singer :-)

I like the patterned backboard. It looks like it was the material from his suit jacket.

I've used black cardstock on most of my portraits, but I read somewhere that cardstock can fade over time. Have you tried black felt? It is cheap ($3/sq yd at Hobby Lobby) and is supposed to be resistant to fading.

Or maybe try some Christmas gift wrapping, or an old Hawaiian shirt? ;)

I'm pretty green with portraits, so I haven't experimented much yet.   I made my first one in April from a pattern Old Crow did for me.   This one makes my 3rd to-date.  I made the pattern myself this time around.      The paper I use now is 12x12" sheets from a scrapbook store.    They claim it to be acid free archival paper that shouldn't fade, but who knows.     I'll have to give Black Felt at try.   Seems like it would be a deeper, more rich black color.

That's a good likeness.

I guess I had rock star hair 40 odd years ago. I haven't got any at all now. :'( ;)

Wow!  Great Job!  Jack White aside from his own band did some touring with Lorette Lynn and even wrote some songs together.  Odd match but it worked.

The dreadfull Dreadlocks is what that looks like.
Someone mentioned a comb, forget it, only a set of clippers or shears will fix that.
We have a bunch of guys running around up here that have them and they really get to looking filthy and nothing can be done with them aside from cutting them off.
Yeah I know us oldfarts don't have enough hair to do that with. I'm sure glad I don't LOL.
