Has any other Hegner owner had this problem? On mine, the ABS plastic link arm from the motor to the bottom arm has cracked between the bearing and the end of the arm. This is an expensive item for what it is, so I made a new one from alumin(i)um which I am hoping will do the job. Time will tell.

I would like to see pictures!

Hi Marcel,
The new link works fine and the extra 4gm it weighs has made no difference to vibration. You can see the crack at the right hand end of the original link. The scratches are where I had a go at gluing it with plastic glue, but all that achieved was to get me high on the fumes. :D

thanks for the pics, looks awesome.
I know where I'll go to when mine breaks ;)

That is a mighty fine bit of fabrication you have done there. looks better than the original.

Very nice work on that repair. I bet it will outlast the rest of the machine. Were those bearings originally in the plastic part?

Yes, they are the original bearings.
I sent for two new ones but only one arrived. I should really say "I *thought* I sent for two." The 2 in the ad referred to the bearing having 2 shields, one either side. Clever, and I should take more notice of what I am reading. To add insult to injury, when I looked on ebay again today, I found a seller where I could have got 10 bearings for an extra 1GBP. Some days are meant for staying in bed and keeping away from the real world. ;D
