Title: DeWalt planer

Picked up a nice used DW733 - 12 1/2" planer yesterday.
Have not been able to find a users manual for it.
With online help came up with service parts list.
Have never used a planer.
DeWalt says discontinued so not much help from them.

I have a DW735 planer and LOVE it. I think the DW733 is an earlier and a bit smaller than the 735 but is still a very good machine. I think you will like it once you figure out how to use it.
I wish that I had a site for you to go to so you could find out more about using it but, I don't. Maybe someone else will be along with more information.

Google is your friend.  I put in "dewalt dw733 owners manual" and the first result was a PDF of the 733 manual.  With my 734, my main problem was reducing snipe at the ends of the board - Google helped.

You have a great piece of equipment - I purchased the same model new somewhere in the mid-90's - it has received regular use and required servicing only once for a set of bearings to be changed - other than that (and the occasional set of new blades) - it is still going strong today - you'll love it (make sure you have ear muffs) .....

jscott2 to reduce the snipe use a scrap piecefirst fallowed with your board.

I love my DW733. To get rid of snipe I use a 12 inch wide 6 ft long piece of 3/4 thick melamine as a bed. I keep three sets of knives so that I have sharp knives all the time. They resharpen at least three times before becoming two narrow.

King, I've set the outboard ends (farthest from the knives) of the infeed and outfeed tables to be a bit higher then the table under the knives.  That reduces snipe. 

As the wood enters the planer, I slightly lift the back end of the board and do the same to the front end as it leaves the planer.  That, and setting the final cuts to barely remove any material  eliminates snipe.  Perhaps one day I'll try a long melamine board as a bed to see how it works to eliminate snipe.
