Hello, I'm Randall from Arkansas. Retired, but stay so busy. Been working with my scroll saw about 1 month, still on the simple stuff. Not sure yet where to buy good wood for scrolling but for now just using some cedar and plywood that I have around.
Appreciate all the information you guys have posted. Will get to spend some time researching.
Have a great day.

Hello Randall! I'm Pete from Minnesota. I'm with Dan on the wood, I buy the thin stuff at http://www.ocoochhardwoods.com/ also, and if you need good blades (and you will) try Mike at http://www.mikesworkshop.com/blades.htm. I also buy thicker lumber at the big box home improvement stores for making boxes bowls and other things.

Hey Randall and welcome to the forum. I'm Julie from Texas. Glad to have you. When I started, I cut every scrap I could get my hands on. If you just want to practice, keep using the scraps but if it is something you may want to keep, jump in and get yourself some good wood. You will be surprised at how many people will want what you consider practice pieces.

Welcome Randall! I am Tony, aka,Toneman from Paris, Texas. Ditto on Ocooch and Sloans. I use both and am well pleased. I also use Heritage Wood Specialties. All three wood vendors have given me excellent service. but, as Julie has said, continue with scraps for practice; you will be surprised how many complements you receive and people wanting your work.
