Small Nautilus shell. It is 3 ? inches in diameter. Cut from a Red Cedar, Applyply glueup. Finished with Tung Oil and top coated with lacquer.

It is a beautiful thing, there must be a heck of lot of sanding to do on these things.

Pete there is a fair bit of sanding however you can with practice cut the pieces so that there is only a little sanding to do. That and you can use a burr ( I use one in my dremmel ) to power carve the inside of the shell a little bit, so that the segments flow together then I hand sand. Not too bad to do.
