Title: Building a New Workbench
Post by: countryscroller on April 03, 2013, 09:09:26 am
I realize this isn't scrolling, but I though I'd bring you guys along on my workbench build. I enjoyed this video probably the most out of all of them. It is more fun and off topic of scrolling. Also if you haven't go check out Ocooch Hardwoods. http://ocoochhardwoods.com/index.php (http://ocoochhardwoods.com/index.php)  I received some wood from them yesterday and the quality is great. Hope you enjoy the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ka1uJgqoe_U (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ka1uJgqoe_U)

Nice work bench, just a suggestion, that looks like half inch ply top, you might want to put a 3/4 inch top on it, its just better for weight and when you have to hammer on something. I need to make me some better work benches but space is my problem.

great video, I always find 15 minutes to watch quit long but I enjoyed the country music and the movie of you riding across the country side. that's a great place to live Dustin!!!
nice work bench, on the video it looks like it's sloping a bit higher on the left, or is that wrong perception.
and some very nice wood you bought there at the end.!
kind of envy that you have stores like that in you country.
thanks for making the video

Thanks and yeah it does slope. I was hoping you guys wouldn't catch that. If you look closely on the left side there is an outlet and where the 2x4 went, I had to make it go just above the outlet cover. I realize if I planned it out more, I could have cut a notch out or something so the 2x4 could have been level. I would have gotten 3/4 ply, but plywood these days is expensive! Again it is just  a place to put stuff on like my sander, miter saw, or other stuff.

Yea plywood is expensive even for the little stuff, but all wood is high pending what you buy.

Dustin - thanks for the video. You do a great job documenting your world of wood - very entertaining. I'm sure the new bench will serve you for many years.

Good job Dustin!  I enjoyed watching the video and your trip to the Evil City!  How do you put up with all that traffic on the way to Lowes?  I think I saw 4 cars on the whole trip!  :)

Way different then where I live.  I just received so wood from Oochoo Wood last week.  It was great quality.
