I just started cutting a windmill clock today, all I managed to get cut were the blades and the centre hub for them.I'll post more as I get it done.
-
You've done a good job so far what patience, can't wait to see the finished piece.

wow Keith thats great theres a lot of cuts in that.is it one piece?
-
Really excellent!
-
Todd, there are 11 pieces there, 5 blades, 5 supports for the blades (going along the length of the blade in the centre) and the centre hub the blades slot into. If you look closely you can see the joints.
-
Keith this project has started out GREAT. First feelings were I want to do it. Maybe.
I cannot wait to see your next picture and for sure the Grand Finale. You cutting of
the 11 parts is Outstanding. But I know your Good already.... Danny :+}

ok see it now. i guess you can stack cut a few of the pieces at least.
-
Yep, I stacked the 5 blades together, was awkward cutting that thick, but I just let the #1 FD UR blades cut at their own speed without pushing too hard, was little slow, but didn't worry me as I cut slow anyway.
-
Wow! If the blades are any indication, that is going to be a spectacular clock!
-
Great piece, patience will be tested with this one, look forward to progress as you go.
-
THat looks like the one I made a will back. I just sold it for a nice sum of money. It looks like you are doing a great job of it. Keep up the good work. The next one I make will have a motor in it to turn the wheel.

Looking forward to the next photos.

Well it's all cut out , I just slotted it together to take these pictures, it's not sanded or finished yet. Now I need your help, Five Blades or Four Blades??? Dad likes the 5 blades as does my daughter, but I think I prefer the 4 blades as does my girlfriend. I look forward to your opinions please before I glue it together.
-
Beautiful Keith! JMO, it looks more impressive with five blades. You cut five, you might as well use five!
-
I agree with Dan , the five blades look more impressive keith , good work !...Pete
-
Nice to see you back Pete, seems like ages since you been in here.
-
Beautiful clock. Looked at both half a dozen times, have to agree with Dan and Pete, 5 blades.
Nice work
Mike
-
I prefer the 4-blade version. The 5-blade covers up the steeple and roof details.
-
EIEIO, the blades freely rotate so they can be positioned so they don't block the roof detail.
-
Keefie, like the 5 blades too. But you might remember who rules the rooster.
Nice work either way
-
An outstanding job. I am starting to feel I might be able try something harder, but not that hard, maybe.
Great work.
-
WOW! That is beautiful. Very nicely done and I cant wait to see it once the finish is applied.
-
I did an image seach on windmills and I don't think I saw any with five blades. OTOH, it'd be a shame to pitch one when so much work is involved. If you want realism, go with four, if you want to show off your skills, go with all five!
Or there's another alternative. Use four and then make another clock. You'd only need to make three this time. If you don't know what to do with another clock, I can send you my address. :D
-
Well - She who must be obeyed won, I finished it and it has four blades (I'll keep spare blade for next one) As a point of interest the main body of it is stained with the "stink stain" wire wool and vinegar. Now I just need to find a price to put on it at my next sale. As always, opinions welcomed (Sorry about picture quality - as a photographer I make a good plumber lol)
-
That's a beauty Keith! Came out great.
-
Beautiful work. Even Doc Martin would approve.
-
That is great. What a beautiful clock. Thanks for showing it.
-
Keith your finished clock is Beautiful. Like the 2 tone look. I was going to vote
FOUR BLADES. Price has to be High. Danny :+}

You did a wonderful job on the clock Keith. Congratulations on the finished product
