Title: Hackberry lumber
Post by: king310 on February 09, 2013, 09:24:55 pm
Has anyone used Hackberry lumber? For what type of project and how did it stain?
I just purchased a single board to try and see how it will look.
I went to my local mill and purchase several boards of cherry, white oak, blue board, hackberry. $33 dollars bought alot of wood. I also found a guy who mills lumber for people. I picked up a 1/4 x 10 x 12 of walnut for free and a board of aromatic cedar 1x6 x 6. He said he will cut what ever we want in one inch, half inch, quarter inch by any width. Green or dried ;D

I will pay attention to the answers here as I have two Hackberry logs and have not come up with any ideas for it.  Not big logs, but enough for a small project - would have to cut them into usable boards, but what the heck, I have time.

Does this miller have a web page by any chance?  Living in the SE corner of SD, I might be willing to take a road trip.
