Title: Midwest Woodworking Show...
Post by: GrayBeard on February 09, 2013, 06:42:30 pm
Held this weekend at the Gateway Center in Collinsville, IL just across the river from St. Louis, MO.
I attended and worked the room for over two hours. Plenty of displays, demonstrations and vendors. NOTHING specific to Scrolling! Only scrollsaw I found was as I was leaving and came across the booth hosted by the St. Louis Woodworkers Guild (slwg.org (http://slwg.org)) and I was welcomed with open arms. They are a good group which I think I will join. All types of woodworking and they freely welcome everyone from the beginner to the most accomplished woodworker. They have a full woodworking shop set up in a St. Louis County Park which they make available to all members. And they do a lot of good making toys for hospital patients and under privileged kids.

The vendor booths were great and PeachTree was the primary vendor for buying 'goodies'. I think they had most of their employees and it seemed at least half their inventory for purchase. I spent my allowance and then some!

Most common demonstrations were 'turning pens' and other lathe projects. Outside was a demonstration area for the lumber miser saw cutting logs down to usable lumber.

An enjoyable afternoon and lots of conversation with other woodworkers.
