Great Project for wonderful cause!
Are you using 'spirals' throughout or using a mix of blade types.
That long cut along the edge of the table is going to be a real B**CH!

awesome project!!! great to see the WIP pictures,
looks a hard project such a long piece of wood.
doesn't the wood bend to the sides, as you started to cut in the middle?

i'm using spirals right now but i think i'm going to use other blade types for certain cuts.

yes it does that why in my second post of pic you see that i have a scrap piece of board clamped to it to help it from bending and i made a little stand to help also.
-
Thanks Newfie for showing how you are progressing thru this project. It really help us understand how to go about doing something this size.
One thing I noticed I bet no one else did is the board in the background and how you have traced around each tool to quickly show where each tool hangs. Great Idea! Thanks for the idea.
-
your welcome, with out that i never get it back in it's place.
-
Very nice, I look forward to seeing it finished.
-
here's where i'm at with the last supper roughly little over halfway through it.so far got 215 cuts done in 14 1/2 hours.around 180 more cuts to go.getting more comfortable using spiral blades now.
-
Wow, that's going to be awesome when finished.
-
All I can say is "WOW!!!"
:o
-
"Beer", with it Todd, oh sorry no beer with this one. But you deserve a few when it is done. Great work. ;)
-
and i'm goimg to have a few when i gets it done Clyde. think i had that planned even before i started it ;D ;D
-
That is absolutely fantastic Todd. I can't wait to see it finished. :)
-
Wow.... One day I hope to display such work. I am at the stage where I am still building my skills and learning new techniques. Work like this feeds our addiction.
Jim. . .

Just have the pastor bless your beer. You will need the best when your done. That is intense.
-
Hey Newfie, are you using a spiral blade on that picture?
gene

gene
yes i am Gene, but i am also using UR blades for a few cuts.
-
i well the progress again in a week or so.
-
It's really neat to see your shop and the in-progress work. Steve's nickel contest was another welcomed view of how others handle set-up and work, like the batten clamped to your board for added rigidity. A picture really is worth a thousand words.
-
here is the last supper all the cuts are done,404 cuts in total and 29 hrs later.tonight i will start peeling of the pattern and see how it looks from the front.for the rest of the week and weekend to make the frame. enjoy
-
That, friend, is truly awesome!
Well Done....

Very impressive work. You are moving through this pretty fast. Can't wait to see it finally finished.
-
you did an amazing job, can't wait to see it in a frame.
-
hopefully by the medal of next week i should have it done.
thanks for all the great comments everyone.
-
ONE MORE COMMENT.... Great C.D. Pattern.... Great talent cutting....Amazing....
Seeing your final makes me wish I could of been Blessed
with the ability to use a Spiral blade. Danny :+}
-
hey Danny trust me you can use them but it takes alot of getting use to.that is the second piece i cut with them and i'm still not good at using them.i find you got to control the wood not the blade.
-
What a masterpiece!!! I'm absolutely amazed at how something that large can be cut! I can't imagine how you made the turns!
Anticipating the final picture!!!
Thanks for posting these progress pictures!

Hey There Tommy T.... Don't use the Spiral blades, but I kind of do know that
when using them the wood does not turn. Spirals are designed to cut in any
direction. I have tried using them MANY, MANY times. Lost cause for me. Danny :+}
-
Very impressive, a magnificent piece. I can't imagine spending that much time on a single project.
How wonderful of you to donate this item to charity. Can't wait to see if framed.
