Title: bad saw bad
Post by: king310 on December 10, 2012, 08:10:38 pm
Well I was looking my saw over today as I was thinking  ::) why the blade continues to wonder. I know I cannot be that bad. ??? I took the side cover off the lower arm of my Porter cable saw and noticed that the lower arm had side to side play. I though some more (it was a tough Day) and wondered if this could be adjusted out.
When I pulled the rubber plug on the bottom arm it was full of filings. >:( >:( >:( >:(. Since the machine was just a few months old I went back to Lowes and talked with the lady in tool world. She said she would trade it out for another.
I went home and unbolted the saw and took it back. Less the stand. We exchanged the saw with no problem. When I showed her the filings she was amazed. 3 out of 4 plugs had filings and the one that did not has grease in it. ::) ::)
I have the new saw back on the stand and it is better than the first one. Runs quieter, smoother, less vibration in fact just motor hum and the table is square. :) :) :) maybe I can quit feeding my neighbors fireplace. :) :) :) :)
OH YES!! I made sure that the plugs had White Lithium grease in them!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Retired with no time to call my own ::) I had to put together a lil tikes car for my granddaughter. From Santa. I am having vinyl lettering made from another neighbor to put her name on the car.  Those things are sharp. I have a 6" scrape on my right arm. Bleed like I cut a vein.
I hope to be back in my shop in the morning to work on two of the nick nack clocks from Steve. They are all cut out but need to finish them. Thank god for files and sandpaper.
I am trying to decide what to stain the maple one......have not liked anything yet. May stain it Jacobean??? ???.
It is hard when you expect everything to be perfect.
I will post photos tomorrow.
