Title: Key chain maker SVG file to gimp
Post by: woodcutter on December 09, 2012, 08:37:17 pm
I used Steves key chain maker and made a key chain and exported it to Inkscape.
Did some work on it and want to export it to Gimp.
How do I get a SVG file into Gimp.

Thanks

Jim

Jim, I'd also be interested in the best way to make the transfer.  Now I save the file in one program as PNG or JPEG then bring it into the second program.

Looking forward to better answers.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think if when you export it to Inkscape, if you "ADD" a layer then save it as .png when you open it in Gimp you'll be able to manipulate the layers. If I'm wrong, I apologize!

Jim
I have never used GIMP, but in the inkscape save as popup, there is a selection to save as a gimp palette .gpl.
I don't know if this will help you.
