hi guys & gals i know alot of you use Johnson's paste wax. where would you buy it at and what department house hold cleaners ETC ?
-
I tried walmart and couldn't find it, so I got turtle wax instead. same concept. I got it in the automotive area
-
Dustin Make sure that is no silicone in the Turtle wax. sislcone will play havoc with your whatever finish you use.
-
If you can't find it in any store (home depot should have it) you can buy it off the internet (www.drugstore.com/SCJohnson) or try contacting Johnson and Johnson and see if they know what store in your area carrys it.
-
Last time I bought it was in the chain grocery store in the cleaning products section...

I have used Johnson's in the past and like it a lot. I found it in "house hold cleaning" department of the grocery store. It is just furniture wax you know.
I am currently using Minwax Paste finishing wax that I think I found in the paint department of the local Lowe's store.
Any brand of paste wax will work just fine but as mentioned above, DON"T use any wax with silicone in it!

Ok thank you Billy.

I have seen Johnson's Paste Wax in grocery stores, Menards, Lowes, and Home Depot. Also a couple of specialty stores in our area.
Just a ditto on the silicone in some waxes - raises hell with the finish of the wood.

I got mine at Lowe's ,use it all the time-I mix in a little mineral oil and put that on my turnings--works great--Richard

Found mine at Walmart. Was actually looking for Bowling Alley Wax but they did not have it so i got the Johnsons

Newfie, I have a suspicion Johnson's wax is not available in Canada. I have tried a number of places in the Montreal area with no luck. I seem to remember hearing that it only available in the US.
I'm using the Minwax.

ok thanks i'll have to get a con and try it out.

I don't think there is anything "magic" about Johnson's wax as a brand when discussed here. I think it is usually mentioned because it is just an inexpensive household wax that many people have heard of. It is very easy to find (in the US anyway). But I think the main idea is that you don't have to go crazy and buy something fancy or expensive. Whatever everybody uses to buff their hardwood floors with in Canada or elsewhere - as long as it doesn't contain silicon - would be just fine.

Well stated Becky
-
I got it at homedepot in the house hold cleaning dept.
-
Most grocery stores here at the cleaning section too.. Maybe I'm old school, but I love the stuff...

I got mine at Ace Hardware. Hope you have one near you.
