Greetings
I have been approached on the idea of scrolling an elk shoulder blade with a design. This would be a completely new experience for me and I would like to hear what you folks would offer for advice and scrolling bone.

I have never cut any bone per say but I have cut a couple antlers. Not a scroll design, but more of a trim on the end. They smell bad when being cut. To me, it was very unpleasant almost like hair burning. Can't say about the bone.

If you do cut bone of any kind be sure to wear a good facemask filter - the best you can get - and eye protection. You don't know what bad stuff lurks in the dust beside the smell. Like mold spores, microscopic disease particles, etc.

Sorry I took so long.
Talked to a friend that makes all kinds of things from bone.
He said to use a respirator, goggles & some kind of dust collector.
He will not cut with out any of these & yes it will stink.
