Hi, I'm new to scroll-sawing, and want to cut some toys out of 2 x 4.....
Which blade sizes do you recommend?
Thanks

Hey Bayman, Welcome to the forum! I would use a Flying Dutchman Ultra Reverse # 7 or 9 Or Olson skip tooth or reverse tooth # 7 or 9.
Please go over to the introduction page and introduce yourself so we can welcome you properly!

This blade is available at Lee Valley, would it do the job?
Crown 9 Reverse-Tooth Blade
Thanks

It should work but I would give mike a call at www.mikesworkshop.com. He sells the flying Dutchman blades and can get them to you in just a matter of days!

Hi Bayman.... I speak from past experience. Years ago I purchased my Scroll blades from good ole Lowes. Have all kinds of unhappy experiences with them. Didn't know about the Forum then. Was advised (like dgman did for u) and bought me Mikes Flying Dutchman Blades and I was really amazed at the difference they made with cutting wood. Wow! Get yourself some and I bet you will be back here bragging about them and your scrolling. Danny :+}

I too started out with blades from Lowes. I used them for a couple of months and thought I was happy. A friend gave me a couple of Flying Dutchman blades to try and I have never gone back. Still have a bunch of those blades somewhere, but I hope they stay lost.

FD blades for me to, UR are great!
but the TC & SR are great also.

I was using blades which came with my scrollsaw and found some Olson blades on clearance and bought them up. I then purchased Flying Dutchman blades and was very impressed. it mad a big difference in my work.
My old blades was like trying to cut a steak with a butter knife. The FD is like cutting melted butter with a steak knife.
