Post by: geneVG on September 19, 2012, 09:35:33 pm
Can anyone lead me to where I can get parts for my 40-690 Delta?  I need the thumb screw for the upper blade tightner.  any help will be welcomed.

If you still have the screw for the hold down "thing".  It should work until you can get another one.

Hey Gene, to help with the slipping blades sand the ends of the blades with a piece of folded 220 grit sand paper to remove the oil on the blades. Also, if your are careful, you can sand the end of the thumb screw to roughen up the end. What I do is take the thumb screw out, lay a piece of 220 grit sand paper on my saw table and very carefully sand the shine off the end. Do not round over the end!  I do this once or twice a day.
Parts for the Delta 40-690 are exactly the same as parts for the DeWALT saw. You can find parts here: http://www.toolpartsdirect.com/cgi-bin/schematic.cgi/dewalt/DW788_TYPE_1

Thanks Dan, but I have already done what you have said, but the blade still keeps comeing out.  That is why I think I need to replace it.  But thanks for the help anyway Dan.

I agree you probably need to replace both the #45 screw set and #47 knob assembly clamp. I keep a couple of space sets just in case.  :)
