last week my daughter came home for a school project.
she had to make an egg drop box. she had a limited choice of materials, wood, wool, sugar, water and paper.
she already had some wood and tried to cut it with a hand saw......
so I squared it all on the table saw and gave her some directions.
she made the whole box herself, drilled holes for the nails and screws.
she filled the box with sawdust (egg in the middle) and screwed the top on.
the box was dropped from 20 feet!!!
the third time one of the sides came loose, but the egg was still in one piece!
great project,
the picture is from the box before she dropped it.

Great idea for using sawdust. She will always remember those times you both spend together. You have to be a very proud Dad. :)

Sweet. Love seeing someone learn from such a thing. I was a teacher for 8 years. I remember seeing our 8th graders out dropping eggs from the 2nd floor landing at the school. None of our kids had such a nice box. Thanks for showing us the project you worked on.

Nice! Pretty well designed piece to hold up to three drops from that height!
