Here is photo of my first portrait. Thanks to Steve for his pattern catalog. I did the cutting and my wife, Leslie, made the frame.

That is beautiful! What a collaboration!  Both you and your wife should be proud of yourselves!  it is a great piece! :)

Beautiful Tony, you did a wonderful job! Tell us about the experience, what kind of wood and blades did you use? Did your wife make the frame molding?

OK, Dude...you are officially hooked on portraits...they don't get harder just more holes to drill and a few more "hold my breath" cuts!

Please...STACK cut those things!!!
It makes it much easier to control the cutting.
I never do less than 3/8" thickness and usually 1/2".

I would recommend you get Sheila's "Leopard" pattern and try that also. It is great for sizing larger or smaller as you wish and makes a wonderful portrait!

Dgman, I used 1/8"Baltic w/#2 Oson TLB blade and my wife did not cut the molding, just resized and added rope to existing frame. Thank ya'll for your kind words, and the stacking sounds like good advice. I was scared of breakage all the time I was cutting it.
