Had a major accident yesterday--I was trimming down a small log on my miter saw, a piece of it flew off, hit me in the head and then I proceeded to cut off my thumb--happened in a flash--ended up in Kansas city --they were going to try to reattach it but it was too messed up--doing okay today but might have to change my name to just thumb--talk with everyone later--Richard

Ouch! Really sorry to hear that. It's a nightmare shared by all woodworkers. At least it obviously didn't detach your sense of humor. Hang in there!

Sorry to hear of your accident. Those things happen so quick, there's not much you can do to prevent them. I spent the night in the hospital a few years ago, so I know how you feel. Hoping you have a speedy recovery.

I am sorry to hear of your accident, things do sometime happen to the best of us. I had a run in withmy table saw, but I only lost a small part of my thumb. It makes you very aware of what you are doing and how fast things happen. Hope you recover quickly. Jeff44

I'm sorry to hear about the bad luck you ran into.
I hope you recover fast, so that you can start scrolling again.
Good luck!!

So sorry to hear of your accident, Richard. Hope you recover OK, and that you can still use your saw and other tools.
The only major accident I had was running my knuckle into the blade of a large bandsaw almost 40 years ago. There was no such thing as Worker's Compensation or the such back then, so a bandaid was all that fixed it up. I should have had stitches.
Take care, and hope you recover quickly.

Thumby, So sorry to read about your mishap. I nearly lost my thumb a few years ago on the table saw. My ego hurt worse than the injury but I regained respect for the tool. I wish you well and hope you get back in the shop soon. Things may be a bit different for you but I saw some excellent scroll work on another forum from a guy who only had one HAND. His motto: from Clint Eastwood in Heartbreak Ridge.."Improvise, adapt, overcome"... Good Luck Richard.

Richard, sorry to hear about you accedent. Get well soon. I know how you feel. About 8 years ago I was ripping pickets for a fence I was building. After I ripped one of the pickets i looked away (for some stupid reason) and my left hand dangled into the blade of my table saw. It didn't really hurt that much until I saw what I had done, thats when I started screaming. I lost my middle and index fingers and got the side of my thum, which works OK. It gets better as time goes on, but makes you watch that blade closer.
