Title: Steve is that really a Mallard?
Post by: Gabby on May 27, 2012, 02:38:43 am
Sorry Steve I downloaded your latest Duck Pattern, and it doesn't look like any Mallard I ever saw. As a matter of fact it looks more like a Wood Duck to me. the swept back neck feathers, the lack of the curled tailfeathers and the slender beak are a give away. It is a pattern I will cut as I'm a fan of both breeds due to their great coloration and beauty.
While I'm embarasing our benefactor I may as well tell him he reversed his photo on the Blogspot where he is posed with his Excaliber.
How do I know?
Excaliber is spelled backwards. LOL
Just goes to show he's human too. I wasn't so sure after watching his videos, those hands just fly!!
Thanks for a gret forum Steve we all love it!

Yup still kicking.  ;D

PS
I added the photo to show the similarity to the pattern, the main difference is the ends of the wing feathers are left off in the pattern, which threw me a curve at first.

Richard I feel Steve will appreciate knowing what is true, and not lob any nasties at me, having said that I'm staying down in the bomb shelter for a while.   ::)  ???

I was amazed how many duck experts there are out there. I got dozens of email letting me know it is a wood duck. I'm a city boy and never even heard of a wood duck. :) Good eye Gabby on seeing rubilacxE. Can't slip anything past you guys.

OK Steve, I haven't checked yet, did you fix the flipped photo on the Blog? LOL
Us country folks enjoy looking at critters especially pretty ones.
The wood duck is the second best looking duck next to the Mandarin
Look it up the males are drop dead gorgeous.
Al that would be a challenge of your tallents.
