I made this one for my sister in law. I used pine for main box, 1/4 in. wood for top and bottom. I'm sorry I haven't a clue what kind it is but I loved the grain in it. There is only stain on the box, none on top and bottom. A little 50/50 for them. The pattern is by Sue Mey, God bless her for helping me with the pattern. The stain is a golden oak. The finish is the high gloss poly. All comments welcome... Sheila
