Could anyone help me with ideas for a detailed pattern to make a family tree?

Common is a tree with apples for the members.
Just an idea: leafless tree from spraypaintstencils.com (http://www.spraypaintstencils.com/a-zlistings/leafless-tree-stencil.gif)
To give you a feeling what you might do. The number of branches would be individual to each family.

Also should the tree be able to grow as there are (hopefully) new family members to add to it.
