I have one of those dead man switch that came with the ex21 scroll saw. When I scroll saw with it every so often it stop working and I have to release it a and step on it again to get it to work. do that means it is going bad on me. Or how can you tell if one of those dead man foot switch going bad on you.

Sounds like a bad connection.  I'd use your compressor and blow out the foot switch.  All that fine sawdust is probably interfering with the contacts.  I'd then mount it on one of the legs under the saw and use your knee to turn it on and off.  The sawdust will have a better chance of just falling right on through in the future.
