Hello from a noobie from Louisiana
« on: November 20, 2014, 04:48:07 pm »
Hello every one my name is Louis and I am from Louisiana. I will be getting a scroll saw and bench to drill press for Christmas from Harbor Freight. I know that its a cheapo saw but its a start (and a gift). I am really excited about getting into it. I have always loved working and tinkering with tings. I recently won an iguana from a local fair and had to build a cage. That some how lead to an obsession with scrolling.  I really want to make bowls, boxes, and maybe a chess set. Who knows where this road leads. Sorry for being so wordy. Hope yall are having a good day!

Excited soon to be scroller,

Louis

I am also new to scrolling but have been working with wood for many years. Like everything in life it takes practice to produce good work in this case the practice is also fun.

Hello Louis, Bill from Indiana here.  Bought a box store brand saw myself just to get started.  Seems to work okay after being given some good blades.  I have made some fancy looking firewood but getting better a little at a time.  Ask lots of questions, these people here are super talented and what I have read so far has helped a lot.  Also look at some of Steve's patterns, I hope this doesn't offend but some are easy and great for learning curves and straight lines and some are seriously cool.
